PLCY201 Brief #1: Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls
For this assignment we had to read about Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls, and argue whether it was an inspired or misguided venture. I believe this essay shows my ability to form arguments based on evidence, as well as my ability to view different sides of something and multiple perspectives about the same issue.

CPPL100 Reflection #2: Privilege Walk
In class, we did a privilege walk activity in which we all stood in a line and listened to and followed certain statements. These were things such as, "if English is your first language, take a step forward" or "if you primarily rely on public transportation, take a step back". At the end of the activity, the people with the most privilege and advantages in society were at the front, while people with less privileges were at the back. This activity provided a physical representation of the privileges myself and many of my classmates have in our society. It helped me recognize my own privilege, but also showed that we all have different interpretations of what privilege means.

This assignment was the final paper for CPPL100, which was to complete the thought process of our ideals on public leadership. We had to address an issue in our current society and talk about how we would combat that issue, and also talk about a leader whom we look up to and our similarities with them.

This assignment was a reflection on our first semester in college. What we were expecting, and what actually happened. I really didn't know what I was getting into with my first semester of college happening in the midst of a global pandemic, but everything turned out fine!
CPPL101: End of Year Reflection
This assignment was a reflection on our second semester in college. We had the opportunity to work in specific issue groups to research, interview, and evaluate various non-profit organizations in order to award one with a grant of $1000. I worked on the research team, providing the rest of my groupmates with relevant information about the organizations we were considering.

Three Semester Review Artifact
I’ve decided to include something very special to me as my artifact to sum up my PL experience: my ROTC notebook. I’ve had it since the beginning of freshman year to take notes on our tactical classes and write down my plans. This is the very last page of the notebook, which includes the schedule I made for firewatch, among other logistical/tactical details. Names have been obscured for privacy.
Practicum Review
The following is a review of my practicum activity, which was Army ROTC. The PL Practicum is meant to be a place where you apply what you've learned in PL to the real world.

Practicum Review Artifact
This was based on specific leadership styles we had learned about in class, and this class and project really helped to build my understanding of leadership as a whole. It was beneficial to look at a historical figure through a lens I had never tried before, and this project helped me build my confidence in my leadership skills, not to mention my public speaking since we presented to our class in the style of an Army information briefing.

Incorporating PL Into My Job Search
If I were applying traditionally to the job of “Quartermaster Officer,” I would give this “elevator pitch.”
